Elvet appointed as consultants for Cestria Community Housing Association

Elvet was appointed as consultants to undertake building surveying services on behalf of Chester-le-Street housing provider, Cestria Community Housing Association.

As part of Cestria’s framework, Elvet was appointed as their preferred supplier with the responsibility for delivering this service including the production of detailed reports incorporating:

• Form of construction and materials of each element.
• Defect diagnosis.
• Outline of suggested / proposed remedial works.
• Consequences of non-repair.
• Predicted asset life of building components.
• Identification of risks and recommendations for additional exploratory / invasive surveys.

The surveys conducted encompass an array of defects including structural movement, penetrating damp and interstitial condensation etc. which demanded that Elvet employed both invasive and non-invasive testing of individual building components to correctly evidence and diagnose the root cause of each defect.

Following the successful delivery of this service, we have now been recommended to Isos Housing Group to provide a similar service as part of their partnership with Cestria Community Housing. This has provided us with an opportunity to supply a quotation to undertake inspections to external staircases, which required structural repairs. Elvet were successful through a competitive quotation process and we have since surveyed and developed robust solutions to remedy these structural issues.
